Dear UK Committee members of the Zanzibar Social Club
cc: Zanzibar folks who attended the social
ZANZIBAR CLUB SOCIAL HELD ON SUNDAY 4TH OCTOBER 2009 bvents@aol.com. Thank you.
Just a brief note to say ‘Thank You’ for organising a superb friendly social event in London bringing together all our communities from our paradise Zanzibar which was great meeting up with many good old friends I have not met since leaving Zanzibar.
The well organised social, I guess with over 400 Zanzibari’s and guests, was buzzing right through with folks establishing contact after all these years.
The food was just delicious and the starters - ‘best samosas I have ever eaten’ - the biryani was also superb and all other dishes plentiful with extravagant portions freely available - Eat as much as you can. Nothing spared.
I wish to convey my full praise and congratulations to your committee for all the hard work with special thanks to Rusi Dalal for introducing ‘THE ZOROASTRIAN CENTRE’ which I term Top-Notch venue and well suited for large parties. Absolutely a 5 star special where I often entertain for most Parsi events.
It was a great pity some light hearted entertainment previously planned had to be cancelled due to the new Council rules & Regulations which have just been introduced, but I am sure in future at your next event this will not be missed, but all the same the two girls who came up on stage certainly got all the folks entertained and it was fun seeing the excitement with all Zanzibari’s. (Brief Video Clip can be viewed below). Let's not forget the singer who sang Malaika!!
I know all your team have worked closely together to produce such a superb event but if I am allowed to further comment, the enterprising Jafferji sisters, Zarina and Zehra certainly contribute greatly in supporting all activities connected with all our folks from Zanzibar not only in the UK but also in Zanzibar with their lovely shops where tourists can purchase various curios and all other goods not forgetting great historical books of Paradise Zanzibar where I am proud to say I have a few which I treasure.
Zarina and Zehra are also well established members of our SJCS ex students where they have attended the SJCS Reunions held in Canada and also in Goa. Everybody love the two sisters and their full support will always be appreciated by all.
Rusi mentioned that it would be great hosting a future event in Zanzibar, perhaps in 2010 or 2011. You certainly have our full support. This would be a dream come true so go for it.
As a token of remembrance of this great social held yesterday, Sunday 4th October 2009 I have put together some photographs I have taken whilst meeting up with friends which can be viewed on the link below titled ZANZIBAR CLUB SOCIAL 2009 PHOTO ALBUM. Sorry I did not capture everyone so send in your pics.
P.S. Appreciate if some of our Zanzibar folks can kindly send me your photographs which I would like to add to my photo album and equally share with others. You can email them to me on
To conclude, once again Betty and myself convey our CONGRATULATIONS to the UK Committee of Zanzibar Social Club putting together a grand event bringing together all our Zanzibar folks in the UK under one roof. Keep up the good work and I will make sure I do not miss any future events which in the past I have missed due to previous musical commitments.
Best regards to the managing committee and all Zanzibar folks who attended the Zanzibar Club Social event. It was a great pleasure meeting you all.
